PLANNING
BOARD TOWN OF TISBURY P.O. BOX 602 TOWN HALL ANNEX VINEYARD HAVEN, MASSACHUSETTS 02568 (508) 696-4270 FAX (508) 696-7341 www.tisburygov.org |
The Tisbury Planning Board has developed a Master Plan Opinion Survey in order to gather from townspeople crucial information concerning the towns future. That information will be used in the formulation of a Master Plan for Tisbury considered by many to be long overdue.
A well-constructed Master Plan provides the basis for decision making regarding the long-term physical development of the town. It usually leads to specific Zoning Bylaw changes to effect the goals expressed and sets the tone for all land use decisions. The Plan also serves as valuable documentation when seeking grants or other forms of assistance.
The Survey will provide the most direct way possible for the Planning Board to understand the wishes of the citizenry. Main themes of concern are residential growth, disposition of remaining open lands, town services and taxes, the harbor, affordable housing, transportation and the health of the business community.
The Survey is designed primarily of easy check-off answers, with ample space for two essay questions. Respondents are asked to be clear and concise. It may take half an hour to thoughtfully complete the survey. The Planning Board is hopeful that townspeople will see this as an all-important chance for them to make a difference, and that hundreds of completed surveys will be returned with the census form or to the Planning Boards Office.
Townspeople are encouraged to take this opportunity to clarify their personal hopes for the town by filling out the survey carefully and returning it promptly to Town Hall. The Survey will be mailed (with town census forms) to all full-time residents around December 30th, and to a statistical sampling of off-island seasonal residents. Anyone feeling that they have been overlooked may request a copy from the Planning Boards Office.
Thank You,
Dennis H. Lopez Nora Nevin Jeffry Thompson, Clerk
