The Second Beginning

        She'd read somewhere that from ancient times to just before television, that storytelling was the glue that held societies together. In early times, every mother handed down to their daughters, the stories that provided a verbal historical record of the family and tribe.  There were also community storytelling events, that helped people get through the long and boring winter evenings. In later times, storytelling changed into entertainment, but it always had an underlaying theme, like courage or ..... . Real good for kids. And it didn't have any commercials either. 

She'd also read that when television came in, it changed the thinking patterns of people from listening and imagining to just passive watching. Sort of like, greying out your brain, instead of filling it full of colors. Besides, having someone tell you a story was a lot more fun than sitting in front of the boring old tube.
